AKO Tanzania Community Support is launching a nine-month initiative to enhance the economic status of Maasai women in Kambi ya Chokaa and Losoito villages, Simanjiro District. The project aims to empower women through income-generating activities such as maize, beans, and vegetable cultivation, as well as Maasai traditional crafts production. Education sessions on entrepreneurship, skills development, and family planning will also be provided. A cost-benefit analysis revealed promising benefit-cost ratios of 1.92 for maize, 1.22 for beans, and 1.23 for vegetable farming. The project plans to reinvest 25% of profits to maintain infrastructure and enhance participants’ skills. The initiative aims to achieve economic independence, improved farming practices, refined craftsmanship, and resilience against early/forced marriages, ultimately improving food security and financial stability within the community.
We invite individuals and organizations to join hands in supporting our vision and mission for transformative change in the Kilimanjaro Region. Our vision is to create thriving communities through sustainable development in the sectors of health, education, and infrastructure.
